WOW! We were so thrilled with the response to early bird signups for Knit Stars – which we believe will be the world’s first online knitting summit! Enrollment was only open for 5 days, and nearly 1,000 people signed up.
(Fun fact: The first person to sign up was from Singapore, and the last was from Dubai.)
There seems to be some real pent-up demand for what Knit Stars has to offer: the best knitting class tips, tricks, and techniques, plus a behind-the-scenes peek into the private worlds of nine of the world’s top Knit Stars – sought-after instructors, knitwear designers and indie dyers:
- Stephen West, Westknits
- Hannah Fettig, Knitbot
- Julie Weisenberger, Cocoknits
- Rosemary Hill, Designs by Romi
- Meghan Fernandes, Pom Pom Quarterly
- Taiu Landra, Koigu
- Amy Small, Knit Collage,
- Julie and Jeff Asselin, Indie Dyers
Knit Stars is an all-online, two-week yarn party! It’s all organized into what’s essentially an online knitting workshop from each instructor, broken down into easy-to-access knitting technique modules. Once you purchase the Summit, it’s yours to watch and refer to, again and again. Our professional video and editing team has already started producing the Summit videos, traveling to each Star’s personal creative workspace.
And the best part? No fighting for tickets, travel hassles, airfare or hotel expenses. You can save some of that money and put it toward the special-edition yarns that your favorite dyers are creating to offer exclusively to Knit Stars participants!
But more about that later…
For now, I’d like to introduce you to our first Knit Star: Stephen West.
Stephen is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grew up in a creative, musical household. After moving to the Chicago area, he found his two passions in high school, knitting and dance, which led him to study dance at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
Two years into the program, Stephen started to design his own knitting patterns and began a little knitting empire called Westknits. Westknits quickly grew into a full-time passion and job within the first year, which allowed Stephen to move to Amsterdam where he studied choreography at the School for New Dance Development.
Stephen is now the author of several self-published knitting books and travels around the world sharing his designs and techniques. With over 200 published designs, Stephen's colorful knitted creations and fantasy-filled photo shoots and videos have inspired thousands of knitters to let loose and play with bold colors.
For his Knit Stars workshop, Stephen will teach you:
- Westknits Shortcut Rows
- I-cord tricks
- Favorite increases
- Brioche Basics
- Finishing Techniques
- Organizing your yarn stash
- Shopping for yarn, choosing color
- And loads of his all-time favorite tips!
