What’s a Knit Stars Premiere Season all about?

It’s the immersive Masterclass experience that changed the world… and it only happens once a year!

Nine years ago, we premiered the first Knit Stars Season, rooted firmly in the belief that every maker deserves a chance to learn from the best. We flew around the world to each Star’s hometown and filmed a mini-documentary and workshop with them in the intimacy of their own home studios.

Then each feature film masterclass debuted to a new worldwide community of like-minded makers, all united in our passion for connection, learning, and growth.

Now with creative, curious Yarnies in 50+ countries, Knit Stars has become a worldwide movement to Knit and Crochet the World Together.™

This year’s Premiere event is called Knit Stars Season 9: Permission to Shine and will feature 10 shining Stars filmed on location in Ireland, Shetland, Italy, Canada, and the U.S.

NEW THIS YEAR, we will be kicking off Knit Stars Season earlier than ever - with Masterclasses releasing each month, starting in July. If you’re enrolled as an Earlybird, you’ll get more time to really soak in and enjoy each release, and share in the fun and learning with your fellow Earlybirds.

Shelley

Hi! I’m Shelley Brander

I’m here to Knit and Crochet The World Together.

Hi! I’m Shelley Brander, founder of Knit Stars.

I know how it can feel to be alone in your creative passion. For my first few decades as a knitter and crocheter, I was on my own! Then, at age 35, I pivoted from my broadcast production career and opened a local yarn store. I saw firsthand how one great teacher can truly change your creative life.

I created Knit Stars to bring the best teaching to yarn lovers around the globe. For years, I was afraid to fly. But now I travel to remote locations around the world, taking you directly into the homes and studios of the most brilliant designers and difference-makers.

Now in its 9th year, Knit Stars has become a learning platform like no other. One that gives us all a place to grow - in confidence and connection.

I personally invite you to join us. Wherever you are in your journey, you truly deserve the Knit Stars Masterclass experience. You and your creativity are worth it!

xoxo,

Mattie's Meals

Each year, Knit Stars teams up with a worthy cause to contribute a portion of the Premiere Season's proceeds. This year, we are honored to work with the Colvin family of LolaBean Yarn Co. to support Mattie's Meals.

Adella's late mother, Matilde "Mattie" Cruz, was a veteran and received chemotherapy treatments during her battle with cancer at the Bronx VA. While undergoing treatment, Mattie's instinct to take care of others did not wane and she would often cook and bring meals in for patients and staff.

Her legacy continues through Mattie's Meals which will provide patients hot meals while they undergo their treatments. We are honored to support Mattie's Meals, the Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation, and the Colvin Family.

It’s about more than the things we make.

As makers, it’s easy for us to get caught up in toxic productivity. We judge ourselves by our stash, our WIPs, how many projects we complete, how long our queues are, how perfect our makes are…the list goes on and on.

The beauty of the Knit Stars Premiere experience is that it’s not just about the things we make. It’s about the time and space we make for ourselves and our creativity.

Every maker deserves time to simply swim in their passion - even if you never make a stitch. Did you know that it’s scientifically proven that we can dramatically improve a skill just by watching? You don’t need to justify investing in Knit Stars by making all the things. You can simply treat yourself, sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience.

Here’s what people have said about previous Knit Stars Season Experiences!

“It's a beautiful opportunity to learn a lot of different techniques and the fact that you can learn at your own pace and refer back to it when you need to, that's a huge, huge draw because not everybody learns at the same speed.”

Jeanette S.

“I feel like l've been given a treasure map. I am so grateful for the diversity of the workshops...Each one of the workshops has given me insight into not just how to knit, but why l knit.”

Mary A.

“I joined Knit Stars from the very beginning and will sign up for Season 9.... cannot imagine my knitting world without it.”

Wanda F.

“Knit Stars Masterclass is like sitting with friends who teach you great techniques and new ideas and just inspire you and give you the confidence to tackle any project!”

Debbie S.

“So worth it.”

Shavetta C.

“I compare Knit Stars to a really good travel guide book which has led me to places I'd never have discovered on my own. And like a guide book, I can refer to it time and time again.”
