Åsa invites you into her beautiful home studio as she tells you about her knitting journey and how she "learned to breathe freely" through knitting and move beyond the simplicity of shawls into more rewarding sweater construction.
Because she loathes weaving in ends, Åsa took on the construction challenge of creating a continuous, top-down method for sweater knitting that minimizes finishing while ensuring the perfect fit. It's genius!
Åsa takes you through the Ziggurat system step by step, so you can learn to apply some of these techniques to other sweater patterns and even accessories!
In her fun, no-nonsense style, Åsa will teach you to choose the perfect size for you, then adapt it to your own beautiful body with her shaping tips, including bust darts - ensuring you'll want to live in (and maybe even sleep in!) your finished knits.
Åsa's Knit Stars workshop comes loaded with extras! Along with your online course, you get the Ziggurat Steps Tutorial PDF by Åsa, her Stjerneskud Cardigan pattern in 10 sizes, a bonus Stjerneskud Mini-Cardigan pattern, a Stjerneskud Tutorial PDF and a Stjerneskud Bust Darts Tutorial PDF.
After completing her undergrad in New York City and then moving to Boston to pursue her PhD, Åsa says she "spent a lot of time not writing" and realizing that academia was not where her passions lay. Instead, she decided to "do this knitting thing."
"I can breathe, and when I let go of my 'non-dissertation', I also breathed freely, and I haven't looked back."
She entered the design world after a friend suggested she sell her patterns to pay for her yarn habit. That, paired with her keen sense of problem-solving, led her to create this ingenious top-down method of sweater knitting that has taken the knitting world by storm.
Often sold out, Åsa's in-person classes are highly sought after, and for good reason! Where else can you learn to only have SIX ends to weave in after you finish a sweater?! And now you have a chance to own all of her best tips and tricks, and return to it again and again as often as you like!

I'm Shelley Brander, the founder of Knit Stars, and I know how it can feel to be alone in your creative passion. For my first few decades as a knitter, I was on my own! When, at age 35, I pivoted from my broadcast production career and opened a local yarn store, I saw firsthand how one great teacher can truly change your knitting life.
I created Knit Stars to bring the best teaching to knitters and crocheters around the globe. I used to be afraid to fly, but now I travel to remote locations around the world, taking you directly into the homes and studios of the most brilliant designers and difference-makers.
Now in its 9th year, Knit Stars has become a learning platform like no other. With feature-film quality production, documentary yarn stories combined with workshops you own and can return to again and again. Knit Stars gives us all a place to grow - in confidence and connection.
I personally invite you to join us. Wherever you are in your journey, you truly deserve the Knit Stars Masterclass experience. You and your creativity are worth it!

OMG Åsa just what I was looking for - her top-down method is truly amazing. Having just finished a vintage pattern into a top-down sweater that I struggled with, listening to Åsa's method of top-down makes me want to do more sweaters. Love her designs - game changer. Fav takeaway - knit what you want, no stress knitting.

"Åsa takes her teaching seriously. She provides a clear overview of the whole and then dives into the details that make her sweaters special. Then she breaks down into clear steps, empowering the knitter to do the steps and to understand what they are doing. This approach means that the knitter can follow along and create a beautiful garment, and they are also free to then improvise the approach to structure their own creations."
