Did you know…
Amy Small, founder of Knit Collage was the first person to ever say “yes” to being a star?!
Yes, you read the right – the first person! 😳
Drawing on Amy’s past experience with Free People and her relationship with a women’s co-op of spinners in India, she creates bulky art yarns like nothing else in the fibersphere.
The “Ride the Wave” scarf by Knit Collage was a best-seller during the first week of our GGMadeIt-inspired Hot Loops wall!
The fun wave effect is easy and fun for even a beginner knitter. Just knitting, no purling. And with three different yarn bases, there’s no shortage of texture!
The final product is made with all three GG-inspired oranges from the Knit Collage palette: fluffy, sparkly Spun Cloud in “Joy Bomb Orange,” the unique fabric-strip yarn in Wildflower “Tart Orange,” and textural Serenity Bouclé in “Paprika.”
Purchase your Ride The Wave Scarf kit here – and whip it up in a weekend!
Here’s your weekly Knit Stars Tip!
In Season 1 of Knit Stars, Amy Small brought her gorgeous yarns and contagious energy to the party! In this clip, she explains how to make the most squishable tassels that you can use for any project, or for the “Solitude Blanket” featured below.
This super-cute and super-fast crochet blanket is available in 2 color options – Petal (a trendy combo of pinks and golds – perfect for a springtime gift) and a color combo created just for Knit Stars in blues and naturals.
“Solitude Blanket” designed by ChiWei Ranck is a simple granny square worked up in delicious super bulky yarn, finished with 4 fluffy tassels.
The final creation really showcases the gorgeous diversity of Knit Collage’s yarn with the open stitches of the elevated granny square and the alternating rows. This is the perfect project to expand on your crocheting knowledge from last week’s tip! 👀

One Pan Caprese Pesto
Spring is finally in the air for our Minnesotan teammate, Anna! “I wanted all the flavors of summer but something that would still keep me warm since it’s still barely 50°,” she said of this dish by halfbakedharvest-dot-com. With only three steps to make it, this recipe is a super easy meal prep dinner that won’t disappoint!
- 2-3 cups cherry tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 shallot, chopped
- 1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped
- chili flakes
- kosher salt and black pepper
- 1 pound dry orzo pasta
- 1 (8 ounce) jar basil pesto
- 2-3 tablespoons sliced peperoncinis
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
- 2. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, combine the tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, shallots, basil, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Roast 10 minutes. Pull the tomatoes out of the oven. To the same pan, add the orzo, pesto, and peperoncinis. Pour over 2 1/2 cups of water and stir to combine. Return the dish to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, until most of the water has cooked into the pasta, but not all of it.
- 3. Stir the pasta around, then sprinkle over the cheese. Bake another 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the sauce bubbling. If there’s a lot of oil from the pesto on top, drain off the excess. Top with fresh basil!
