🧶 Colorful Summer Knits ☀️

Building color palettes can be a learned skill, especially with colors you don’t typically wear. But have no fear; Beata Jezek from Season 2 of Knit Stars will help you gain confidence in your color pairing skills and give you the tools to create a stunning color palette for your next project!

“Slumber Shawl” by Stephen West is a great summer knit and one that you can put your color palette skills to the test with!

For this Shawl, we curated two different fades that are perfect for this summer. Both fades are knit with the Hedgehog sock base, making them the ideal breathable knit for this summer. But, we encourage you to try your hand at creating your own fade! This shawl would be perfect for this summer in Hedgehog Fibre’s sock base or Lavender Lune worsted base.

The first fade leans more bold and bright with “Merman,” “Frostbite,” “Sweet Pea,” and “Flamingo.” While the second fade is still very colorful, it is a bit more muted, made with “Frostbite,” Bandit,” “Static,” and “Orca.”

Purchase those colors here and find “Slumber Shawl” on Ravelry.

“Persimmon Branch” by Tif Neilan was inspired by the beautiful Persimmon tree, with its delicate branches and gorgeous fruit. This crescent-shaped shawl features a combination of garter stitch, slip stitch textures, and eyelets, to pay homage to the natural beauty of the Persimmon tree.

Finished off with a delicate picot bind off and optional tassels or pom-poms to adorn the ends, Persimmon Branch is an engaging and enjoyable knit that can be worn in a variety of ways.

“Persimmon Branch” was knitted in the gorgeous “Frances Poldark” and “Don’t Talk” colors from Lavender Lune. We put together a few more options for this shawl as well in the Lavender Lune colorways.

“Simple Swancho” by Karida Collins beautifully showcases the dynamic colors of La Bien Aimee. This was another project that was featured in our Hot Loops Collection this spring.

A poncho is the perfect accessory for spring and summer. Throw it in your bag and it’s ready for a too-air-conditioned office or the breezy beach at sunset.

“Simple Swancho” by Karida Collins is the ideal project for new knitters because once you realize you’re knitting a poncho, you’re almost done! Knit from the top down, “Simple Swancho” is half-sweater, half-poncho, and a whole lot of fun to complete!

The saturated colorways from La Bien Aimee are perfect for a springtime knit that you can wear all summer long and into the fall. The Merino Aran base is a versatile base that will keep you warm at night but still allows breathability for a breezy day!

“Simple Swancho” was knitted in “RGO” but would be gorgeous in any of the colors from this collection.

“Potatoes, butter? Ummm… yes please!” Our Relationships and Products Manager, Beth, loves these potatoes from MildlyMeandering-dot-com so much that sometimes she makes them as the main dish with a big salad to balance out the meal. These would be perfect in the oven or on the grill as the weather starts to warm up! 👀

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs yukon gold potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/4″ thick
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp dill
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced potatoes, melted butter, thyme, dill, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Mix until well combined.
  3. Transfer to a baking sheet in a single layer. Place in oven and bake for 10-15 minutes before flipping the potatoes and baking for another 10-15 minutes. Flip the potatoes again and pour in the chicken broth.
  4. Bake 12-15 more minutes.
