Come hang out with these 9 Stars 💫🎉

“If you build it, they will come.”

Remember this line from the 1989 movie Field of Dreams?

In the movie, Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella is inspired by a voice he can’t ignore to pursue a dream he can hardly believe. With the help of his wife, he begins the quest by turning his ordinary cornfield into a place where dreams can come true.

This is what the new Knit Stars Flagship store is to me.

Not just a yarn store.

Not just a new home for Knit Stars.

It’s a quest. A promise. And a celebration.

A quest inspired by a little voice that told me to sign a lease on a 6,000+ square foot space last year, smack-dab in the middle of a pandemic. Inspired by a vision of a physical home, an in-person manifestation of the global Knit Stars experience. A place where yarn lovers from around the world can come together, shop, make and connect around this art we all share.

A promise that your art will always matter. A win for the modern maker movement, where individuality is celebrated and creativity is truly valued. A vote for the future of the local yarn store, for the lasting power of knitting and crochet.

A celebration of what we’ve built together. Of all that is to come as we Knit the World Together. Most of all, it’s a celebration of YOU becoming the Star you were meant to be.

I’m thrilled to share that the 9 Knit Stars pictured above will be joining us in person for our Grand Opening, Friday + Saturday October 1-2, 2021. It means so much that they’re willing to travel here and celebrate together!

We’d love for you to join us, too. Even in our big, beautiful new home, space is limited due to occupancy limits and COVID practicalities. So we’ll be asking that you RSVP and select a two-hour window to visit. We’ve also put together handy info on hotels, transportation and how to have the most fun in Tulsa!

Watch for the RSVP form in next week’s Scoop.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

P.S. Here are a few more sneak peeks of the space for you. Watch for more in the coming weeks leading up to the Grand Opening October 1-2!

Note that throughout the move process we will continue to take orders daily at LoopsLove.com offering free shipping in the US on orders of $50 or more & free international shipping on orders of $150 or more starting today, Sunday, Aug. 22.💙

When we’re thinking of bringing a new yarn into our curated collection at Loops, we instinctively put the skein to our neck and rub it around to be sure it passes the itch test! 🤗

Not all yarn passes the test. Not even cashmere! But this cashmere from Clinton Hill passes with flying colors – LOTS of colors!

Shelley designed the Lulu Cashmere Cowl to take full advantage of the vibrant Bespoke cashmere palette. And it’s simple enough that you can relax and sink into the soft luxuriousness of the fiber. Knit in garter stitch, with easy color changes and some simple buttonholes, you’ll get to fully enjoy the mood-enhancing cashmere as it glides through your fingers.

Plus the buttonholes add versatility, giving you multiple ways to wear it!

Click here to buy the kit we’ve created with this very special yarn, and we’ll include our Lulu Cashmere Cowl pattern download free with your purchase.

Cecelia made “Above the Clouds” with 2 skeins of Loops Gusto hand-dyed merino

Say hello to Cecelia, a Knit Stars Club member who joined in the Club fun a little over a year ago. 👋

When we first met Cecelia, she was a bit shy about her knitting ability, and quietly joined our weekly Zoom Yarnalongs to listen in as her new fiber friends chatted about their latest project – from frogs 🐸 to fabulous finished objects.

Over the past year, it’s been a thrill to watch Cecelia grow in her skills and confidence. Nowadays, she’s regularly posting selfies where she’s wearing her makes, putting her own twist on her color palettes, and smiling bigger and bigger in each successive photo.

In a Club group post this past holiday season, she was so excited to share the art she created for her friends and family! “I have not ever made so many gifts before! All of you at Loops have inspired me to knit more and try new things.”

We are inspired by YOU, Cecelia!  Keep on stitching, connecting and growing!

This Rising Scarf pattern by Shelley Brander comes with our Koigu pencil box kits, here. Cecelia used colorway “Hero Twilight.”

Did you know that Season 4 Knit Star Hannah Thiessen spent a summer in Uruguay living with the family who owns and runs Malabrigio? Her plucky self found a way to turn her love of fiber and knitting into an internship at one of the premier yarn companies in the world! 💫

In this week’s Knit Stars Masterclass tip from Season 4, Hannah shows you how to save your favorite pair of knit socks from even the most horrendous of holes. When you’ve spent hours creating your most favorite pair of socks, you don’t want to lose them to a hole in the heel…amiright?

Click here to watch the quick tip and to learn how to create a strong and sweet little sock-saving patch, and discover how to extend the life of your favorite cozy pair of handmade socks.

“Jam Drops” are a sweet little sugar cookie with a jammy center. We got this wonderful recipe from Season 6 Knit Star, Jacqui Fink, who said, “This comes from a 1972 Women’s Weekly Cookbook. My Mum made these all the time.” ❤️

Ingredients:
4oz butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons honey
1 cup self-raising flour
1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 cup arrowroot
pinch salt
jam of your choice

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add egg and honey, beat well. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture, mix well.
Roll teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls, put on greased oven trays. With finger, make small indentation in centre of each biscuit; put approximately 1/4 teaspoon of jam into each indentation. Bake in moderate oven 12 to 15 minutes or until a light golden brown.
Makes approximately 3 dozen.
