🧶 A ssssurprising meetup guest 🐍
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
This week, I wish I had room in this newsletter for 1,000 pictures…
Because every single one of your snapshots from last weekend’s Big Knit Stars Meetup brought a big Cheshire-cat smile to my face!
More than 100 in-person meetups took place around the world. On SIX continents!
(We tried to get some penguins to meet up in Antarctica…but they insisted on black tie, and we said no, this is a casual affair! 😜)
Seriously, though, my heart was bursting with gratitude and love for all of Knit Stars fans and yarn shop owners and new friends around the world who hosted and gathered and formed real connections around our shared love of yarn – and one another.
There were so many Stars who hosted meetups and made special appearances, including a bunch from upcoming Season 10!
Some meetups had huge turnouts, and others were small but mighty. I like to think what started as a humble little experiment may have led to some lifelong fiber friendships. 🥰
Many of you wrote in to share your stories. This one from Leia in the Netherlands filled me with joy!
“I am so proud to say that our meetup in Heerenveen (the Netherlands) was a great success! So much so, that was soon as everybody had left, the pop up store where our meeting was held, decided to organize a meeting like this on every last Sunday of the month…More than 20 ladies walked in (and some men)…It was a beautiful, diverse group, making all kinds of beautiful and very diverse things!” – Leia S.
And then there was this story from Cheri F. in Plainfield, Indiana?
“Oh boy! We all had such a good time! Meeting fellow fiber artists, show and tell, and current projects. It was all you were hoping it would be. 11 people attended, and I loved hosting. Things got a little ‘wild’ when a snake was found on the farm and brought in. LOL maybe he wanted a sweater made for him.” – Cheri F.
Yikes! Well, at least if it was looking for a sweater, it would be a quick, easy knit. Just a tiny tube! 🐍
And special thanks to Sue, who organized a meetup in my hometown of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. All I had to do was show up with some stitch markers for the swap (star-shaped, of course) and voila…four new yarn buddies! 💥
If you took part in a meetup, we’d love to see your photos and hear your stories! Email us at [email protected]
Here’s to even more creative connection in the days to come. 💖
xoxo,
P.S. If you’re looking for more authentic, upbeat fiber connection year-round, check out the Yarniverse.
It’s that magic day again…Golden Hour is back!
Golden Hour is actually 24 hours…a whole day when you can get a Knit Stars Golden Ticket at 1/3 off.
What’s a Golden Ticket, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you…
Like Willie Wonka’s rare metallic ticket stashed inside a chocolate bar…the Golden Ticket is your fast pass directly to owning all the Knit Stars Seasons (and becoming an instant All Star, with all the special access and bonus content that entails) at significant savings.
You can purchase the Golden Ticket and complete your collection no matter how many you’re missing – from one Season up to all 9 Seasons, all at big savings during Golden Hour.
Go here and purchase before midnight Monday, July 28.
Proud mama moment…my daughter’s first published design has become my go-to sweater to pack for my Season 10 filming trips.
The Arupaka suri/silk blend from Moondrake is so light and airy, it gives me that perfect layer of warmth in freezing planes and airports, and it takes up almost zero room in my backpack. Plus it is supercute and on-trend with its balloon sleeves and hip-skimming length.
This is the last call for the custom Moondrake yarn. We’re closing the pre-order this week, so if you want some, click here

P.S. The Moondrake Arupaka would make a gorgeous, mohair-free Ranunculus – with just a skein or two, depending on your size.

I’m loving this “Bonnie and Clyde” scarf pattern set that Isabell Kraemer just released.
“Two balls of yarn – two little scarves. Maybe THE best way to try out new yarns and techniques!” Isabell writes.
“Bonnie” is worked from the top down and features the beautiful and fun stitch pattern used for Isabell’s HEIMATHAFEN pullover.
“Clyde” is worked sideways from tip to tip, increasing stitches at one edge until the final (desired) width is reached, then decreasing stitches at the same edge until the very last stitches are on your needle. An easy and beautiful stripe pattern adds interest and makes knitting Clyde a fun and beginner friendly experience.

Knit Stars Season 2 Star Andrea Mowry just released her Rhinebeck sweater for 2025, and it looks like another winner.
“The inspiration for this sweater began with a beautiful modern rug with undulating curves,” Andrea says. “I immediately began drawing up some colorwork charts, and love the organic, bold shape of this yoke. After knitting thru the first chart, I was inspired to add some perfectly round polka dots, and the jammy colors and drippy motif just had me thinking ‘ooey gooey’ as I was knitting!
