🧶 A confession and a declaration
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
This morning I was in the shower and, as often happens, I got an unexpected “download from the universe” – a thought, seemingly out of the blue.
(Is this where your big ideas happen, too?)
It’s a little bit embarrassing to confess, but I’m going to confess it anyway, because there’s an important point underneath it.
So here goes…
I have never made a project from any of the previous Knit Stars Seasons. Not a one.
I’ve had every intention of making them ALL. I’ll never forget Veera’s spectacular Bixbite Shawl from Season 2… Christel Seyfarth’s “magic ball” bird shawl from Season 3… Tina Tse’s modular jacket… Hélene’s Icelandic sweater… and my gosh, every single masterpiece from Season 10!
Veera’s “Bixbite” Shawl from Knit Stars Season 3.
But my needles were just always too busy.
In the early Seasons, I was designing for LoopsClub and making shop samples. In recent years, I’ve been so busy with filming that all I could manage was mindless “airplane” projects.
When this shower thought first occurred, I was awash in guilt and shame.
I bet you’ve had similar moments, where your best intentions didn’t quite match up with your outcomes. Chances are, you’ve got at least one skein of yarn in your stash that hasn’t yet become what you planned, right? 😅
But here’s the thing.
I am so over guilt and shame, especially when it comes to crafting.
I hereby release myself – and you – from this guilt and shame.
Henceforth, only joy and abundance shall surround our love of yarn, creativity and making.
I’m sharing this with you now, because this mindset is going to set the course for next year’s Knit Stars Premiere: Your Season of Genius.
The Stars I’ve gathered for 2026 are living so authentically, swimming so deeply and confidently in their own creative genius, they’re uniquely qualified to help you uncover your own next level.
I’m going to help you bring more intention to your creative practice, with a printable journal to explore all facets of your creative flow and break down any lingering barriers like “I can’t” and “I’ll never”…
And we’re going to look at projects differently for our 2026 Season. Instead of a different project for each workshop, the Stars are going to teach their techniques on a square, and the squares (or any combination of them, your choice!) can all be combined into one beautiful blanket or cowl to commemorate your learnings from the Season.
(Some of the Stars may include other bonus projects, but for the most part it will be one big cohesive experience.)
It’s a project that I can finally commit to – and will be airplane-portable, too! 😎
I’m so freakin’ excited to go on this journey with you.

xoxo,
Black Friday special: Organization, control and inner peace, all for just $47 (regularly $97!).
For decades, I didn’t just have guilt and shame around my stash and WIPs…I had it around my needles, hooks and notions, too.
They were spread all over the place, in project bags and cabinets and drawers. I could never find my size 7s so I kept buying more. So when I finally laid everything out and did inventory, I had about 20 pair of size 7 needles. 🙈
I tried all the needle bags on the market, but nothing would hold it all. The closest thing I could find was a “bait bag” from BassPro. Not exactly the elegant solution I dreamed of.
So I finally just made the solution. Our Knit Stars Needle Keeper holds it all – circulars, double points, interchangeables, hooks, notions. All in one portable, elegant carrier.
They’re normally priced at $97, but on sale starting now through this weekend for just $47 while they last. Click here to get yours.
Wow, y’all have pompom thoughts!
I finished “A New Leaf Beanie” by Karysha and posted on our Instagram @knitstars asking which pompom from my stash I should add. The overwhelming response was rust. But then…I found one more pompom hiding in my stash, and went with it!
Thank you to everyone who weighed in. And since my pompom snaps in…I can always swap it out for the rust one later! Or as Patty Lyons suggested…go pom-less.
“In My Stripes Era” by Veronika Lindburg
Maybe it’s the lingering effects of filming with Franklin Habit in Paris this summer, but I’ve really been digging stripes lately.
I love how this new, cute little scarf by Veronika Lindburg adds a stylish, fresh touch to the whole look.
Plus I think it would make a great little gift for someone special.
Find the pattern on Ravelry here.
Easiest Boursin Fig Appetizer
I needed an easy recipe for this week’s book club and ran across this online. I don’t even remember where…but it’s so simple that I was able to retain it and make it. It was a huge hit! So quick – memorize it and make it for your next holiday gathering.
P.S. Our book for this month was “Gone Before Goodbye” by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben. I really enjoyed the audio version because – ahem – Chris Pine. Give it a try!
Step 1: Open two packages of Boursin cheese and spread them in a thick layer on a small serving platter or plate.
Step 2: Spread a thin layer of fig jam over the cheese.
Step 3: Loosely chop some shelled, salted pistachios and toss over the fig jam.
Step 4: Drizzle with hot honey.
Step 5: Serve with crostinis, pita chips or your favorite cracker.
That’s it! YUM!
