A free boredom-busting pattern 👯‍♀️

You know when you come to that “slog moment” in a project? You go from all “wooohoooo let’s cast on!” to “this is so relaxing” and then all of a sudden it’s like “when will it ever ennnnnd?” 😩

Because I dread that slog moment, I designed this cowl awhile back to show off the luscious “Acadia” merino-alpaca-silk blend, with just enough color change and easy patterning to keep my adrenaline up the whole project through – cast-on to bind-off.

And you’ll love this: It’s a free pattern.

We’ve just refreshed this pattern with some new palettes and renamed it the “Adrenaline Cowl.” Evelyn knit hers with US Size 8 needles and one skein each of colors Rosebay, Yellow Birch, Blue Heron, and Mountain Ash.

Choose one of our curated color combinations, or create your own palette from our 12 colors of The Fibre Co. Acadia.

We’ll send you the free pattern pdf when you purchase the yarn here.

There is just something special about silk. The drape, the smooth hand, the way it takes color.

And “Mana” by Araucania is a especially special because it’s hand-painted to impart a rich tonality to your project.

Plus, this week our entire stock of Mana is 20% off!

We want you to experience the magic of silk, so we have two pattern ideas to get you going. And they’re both free with purchase! 🤗🤗

Our “Fringeworthy” scarf is a perennial favorite! It’s a quick-knit, one-skein pattern that is a perfect place to start your silk journey. The pattern is free with purchase – just email support@loopslove.com to request it.

Shelley’s “Deux Verres is a simple, drapey poncho that can be styled in multiple ways. Knit Deux Verres with 2 skeins on US Size 8 needles. The pattern is free with purchase – just email support@loopslove.com to request it.

Q: What could be more effortless and chic than jeans and a tee?

A: Jeans and a knit tee that you created!

“Summer Sorrel” by Wool and Pine is a piece you’ll reach for again and again. Casual and elegant, it’s an instant staple in your made-by-you wardrobe. We love that it’s knit from the top down, seamlessly. We *also* love that the reverse-stockinette body of the sweater is worked inside-out for easy knitting.

This pattern includes written and charted instructions as well as video tutorials and written explanations for special stitches – so you got this!

We made our Summer Sorrel in Spun Right Round Classic Sock, a small batch, unique hand-dyed yarn in tonals, variegated and speckles. This super soft merino is a pleasure to knit or crochet with!

We have two 3-color fades curated for us by Spun Right Round:

Night Sky + Lagoon + Beach Combing (as shown on our model)
Careless Whiskers + Sugar Fairy + Hellbent (below)

Knit your inclusively sized “Summer Sorrel” on US Size 5 needles. The pattern includes sizing for finished chest circumference 34-68” with a recommended positive ease of 2-6″.

The Modern Proper’s “Lemon Chicken” is a simple baked chicken recipe, jazzed up with some punchy herbs and plenty of lemon. This recipe is fast and easy so you can get out of the kitchen and back to your yarn!

Ingredients:
4 Boneless chicken breasts (roughly 2.5 lbs)
1/4 cup Olive oil
2 tsp Oregano, dried
2 tsp Thyme, dried
2 tsp Garlic powder
2 tsp Salt, divided
½ tsp Black pepper
1/2 cup Dry white wine
2 tbsp Minced garlic (6 cloves)
1 tbsp Lemon zest (2 lemons)
2 tbsp Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 tbsp Brown sugar
1 Lemon, cut into 6 slices, optional

Directions:
1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Pat the chicken breasts dry and place them in a 9 x 13 baking dish.

3. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper to create a thick marinade/paste. Coat the chicken breast with seasoning paste.

4. Using the same bowl mix together the white wine, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon salt. Pour over chicken breast.

5. If using, nestle the lemon slices between the chicken bake for 15 minutes, baste the chicken with the pan juice, bake for another 15 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reads 165 F.
