Dad’s hat + easy poolside knits 👙

So, we got all the graduates across the stage.
We took care of gifts for all the June brides.
Now it’s time for Father’s Day.

Did that sneak up on you, too? 😳

It happens to me every year. I’ve just started to relax into summer when – boom! – I need a gift for dad. But fear not! This week, we’ve got you covered with a manly cabled hat in a luxurious Aran weight tweed yarn.

This one’s so quick, you can whip it up in a week. Or just give him the skein (or a pic of the skein), a big hug and a note that it’s going right onto your needles, and will be ready in time for fall hat weather! 😅

Dads will love “Jason’s Cashmere Hat” by Melissa Johnson of Sweet Fiber. It’s free on Ravelry, and it only takes 1 skein of our favorite Queensland Collection Kathmandu Aran 100. This yarn has all the texture we love in a tweed, plus the special softness of cashmere and silk.

And because we know you’ll fall in love with this yarn…consider also casting on a “Soulful Blanket Cowl” for yourself!

Shop Kathmandu Aran tweed here.

This week, we’ve got two great poolside knit projects for you!

First up is a our “Knit One, Drink One” scarf in the freshly-restocked, most popular color from our spring Hot Loops project wall, “Crab + Corn Bisque.”

This scarf takes just 2 skeins of Mitchell’s Creations worsted weight Bayou yarn, and US Size 9 needles. The one-row repeat mistake rib pattern is so easy to memorize, you can have a glass of wine while you knit it!

This special Loops pattern is free upon request, with purchase of two skeins of Mitchell’s Creations Bayou yarn. Just pop a note in the space provided when you check out.

Which color will you be toasting with? Choose yours here!

Fringeworthy is one of those patterns that knitters come back to again and again. It’s easy to memorize, so you can take it with you anywhere. And then you won’t BELIEVE how fun it is to “make” the fringe at the end – it’s totally addictive!

Evelyn knit her rainbow-tastic Fringeworthy with just *one* skein of new Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus Rainbow – truly one of the loftiest, softest, and most scrumptious cotton yarns we’ve ever had on our needles. This Israeli Mako Cotton blend is soft and light, making it perfect for spring and summer wear.

Basically, everyone who touches it immediately buys it!

The Cumulus Rainbow colorways are so much fun to knit, as you watch the colors slowly change across your piece. We chose the rainbow-iest Rainbow, #202 “Great Reef” but all of the colors are winners here.

Knit your Fringeworthy with one skein of Cumulus and Size 11 needles. Add a note in the space provided at checkout, and we’ll send you the pattern for free, plus a link to a quick video for making the fringe.

Choose your Cumulus color here.

This make-ahead mango margarita from The Thrillist is the essential poolside pleasure. The best part is, you don’t have to lug out the bulky blender to prep this bright and refreshing iced beverage.

Ingredients:
2 oz tequila
2 oz mango juice
1 oz lime juice
1 oz agave syrup
.5 oz water
Salt

Instructions:
Step One: Mix all ingredients together, save for the salt, in a mixing glass.

Step Two: Carefully pour into a plastic bag.

Step Three: Seal the plastic bag, removing as much air as possible.

Step Four: Lay flat in a freezer until slushy, about 2-3 hours.

Step Five: To serve, pour into a glass (rimmed with salt, if you wish) and give it a brief stir to loosen it up.

Cheers to poolside knitting! 🍹
