🧶Eyes on the windshield
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
Today is the last day to enroll in Knit Stars Season 11, and that’s got me thinking.
From interacting with Yarnies around the world each day, I’ve picked up the general sense that many of us are feeling weighed down – by our responsibilities, by our struggles, by our unfinished projects, by our stash…
And that weight can keep us from moving forward.
But then I was catching up on my Ted Lasso episodes this week, and he said something that made me laugh out loud (so loud that it startled Charles Barkley) because it felt so true.
“There’s a reason the rearview mirror is so much smaller than the windshield.”
As I’ve been processing my recent breakup and the health news I got about those mysterious pink patches on my skin (more on that next week, maybe)…I keep thinking about a pose we do at least once in every yoga class: Virabhadrasana II, more commonly known as “warrior 2.”
In this pose you’re supposed to look out over your front hand. My teachers always reminds the class to focus ahead, toward your future, “with no more than a glance” to your back hand, which represents your past.
And at the end of many yoga classes, we’re often encouraged to let go of things that no longer serve us, to “leave them on the mat.”
