New inspo alert 🚨

BY SHELLEY BRANDER

Welcome to the Fall 2020 Hot Loops Wall!

This weekend we announced our new indie dyer of the season…

Drumroll pleaseeeeeeee…

🎉🎉 Kim Dyes Yarn! 🎉🎉

Kim has created a collection of bases and hand-dyed colors to wow and inspire us for the whole season, and the Loops Troops have curated and created perfectly paired projects for each yarn. So all you have to do is choose your favorite design, order up your favorite color, and cast on!

It’s a one-stop knitspiration shop.

Each week we’ll be highlighting one of Kim’s yarns, along with our project pairings. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Cronut Sport is one of Kim’s newest bases – a delicious, 50/50 blend of superwash merino and silk in a palette that inspires.

Loretta chose to make Jacqueline Cieslak’s “Rift” pullover in Cronut Sport “Egg Yolk” – a simple tee with modern touches in a color that simply glows.

“The yarn has such a beautiful sheen and drape to it,” Loretta raves. “I didn’t expect it to showcase the ribbed side and sleeve details as well as it did. The ribbing just stands up and says, ‘Hey, look at me!’ Jacqueline’s pattern is flawless and adjusting sizing for my gauge was seamless. Winter is coming…I think I also need a long-sleeved Rift in my closet!”

“Rift” is a lightweight bottom-up top with plenty of positive ease that includes options for two necklines, optional bust darts, short or long sleeves, and a custom fit bicep. The split high-low hem in twisted rib, gives it enough detailing to be interesting while maintaining a timeless simplicity.

With almost 1,000 projects on Ravelry, you know this is knit-worthy!

Jacqueline is known for her expert size-inclusive designs, so you can choose your perfect fit. Knit Rift with 2 to 4 skeins of Kim Dyes Yarn Cronut, depending on your size, and Size 4 needles.

Looking to crochet with Cronut Sport? Tian Connaughton’s “Keora Shawl” is the perfect piece to transition from warm to cold and back again. Dress up a plain white t-shirt and denim jacket for a fall picnic, or layer under your winter coat for extra warmth and a pop of color.

Keora Shawl begins with an easily repeatable lace edging that you can make as wide or shallow as you like, then transitions to the DC body, which is cleverly shaped using short-rows.

Loops Trooper Bekah crocheted the Keora Shawl with just two skeins of Kim Dyes Yarn Cronut. Bekah said:

“Cronut Sport has a beautiful shine and stitch definition,” Bekah said. “The soft twist and sheen complemented my ‘Me Want Cookies’ colorway. This pattern is perfect for the adventurous crocheter. The lace is fun and the body of the pattern is simple, yet uses interesting techniques!”

New Pattern Alert! 🚨

Ambah O’Brien just released her newest design and a special collaboration with Koigu – the “Kentia Wrap.” And we have two kits of fabulous Koigu colors to go with it!

Ambah designed the Kentia Wrap to make the most of the Koigu pencil box set featuring 10 colors, paired with a contrasting colour to make the set shine. This is a great chance to play with mosaic knitting, a technique that really is so much simpler than it looks. Unlike stranded colorwork, only one color is worked per row, and stitches are slipped to create texture and pattern.

Use this project to have a colorful knitting adventure. We’re offering Ambah’s original color design, as well as our exclusive kit, Sunflower Farm! 🌻

Here’s what Loops Trooper Bekah had to say about this project:

“I. LOVE. THIS. PATTERN. I adore mosaic! If you follow Ambah’s color planning directions, you can experiment a bit and make yours one of a kind. I also LOVE our custom color set Sunflower Farm! It is absolutely one of my favorite color palettes and will look great going into fall.”

Our Kentia Wrap kits include a 10-skein Koigu Pencil Box and 5 skeins of the main color – everything you need for this relaxing graphic knit.

Get your kit here – they’re in stock and ready to ship now!

“Always bet on you.”

That’s the advice Felicia Eve, the owner of String Thing Studio in Brooklyn, always heard from her mother.

Believe in the strength of your dreams.

As an LYS owner, Felicia knows a thing or two about knitting, but after her Knit Stars experience, she had all the confidence to take her knitting to the next level.

She believes in the beauty of her work – what she was told were “flaws” became her design choices.

After Knit Stars, Felicia had the confidence to see a pattern and know how to make it fit *her* body and her style.

After Knit Stars, she was betting on herself 💯

This Broccoli Cheddar Egg Muffin recipe sounds like a good knitting pattern! It’s flexible. You can make more if you have enough. It’s quick. And everyone will love it!

From the Fit Mama Real Food blog, these easy bits of protein and veggies are great for any meal. Take some on the go for a quick breakfast, or try Trooper Rachel’s favorite – slice them up and make an egg and cheese bagel!

These Broccoli Cheddar Egg Muffins freeze well (Rachel sometimes quadruples the recipe) and are easily adapted to your favorite flavors- here are a few ideas:

Spinach + feta
Cauliflower + mozzarella
Kale + provolone
Green onions + swiss (maybe even all ham in there – yum!)
Tomato + goat cheese
Roasted bell peppers + pepper jack

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup steamed broccoli (or frozen broccoli that’s been defrosted)
1/2 cup sharp cheddar shredded
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Coat a 6 hole muffin tin with oil.

2. In a bowl whisk the eggs, chopped broccoli, sea salt and pepper together.

3. Pour egg mixture into muffin tins and divide the cheese on top evenly among them.

4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the eggs are set. Let cool and then remove from muffin tins.

Get creative with this pattern, erm, recipe and then take some time for yourself and get a few rows in! 🙂
