🧶Save the date: The Big Knit Stars Meetup 🎉

BY SHELLEY BRANDER

One of the greatest joys of my life is this worldwide community we’ve all built together over the past 10 years.

To think that there are Knit Stars owners in 65 countries and counting absolutely blows my mind!

It reminds me of my favorite quote of all time, that I first read in a tiny book of quotes that I discovered at my Granny Lawana’s house when I was a child.

“The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.” – Goethe

I’m so thankful for online technology that’s made it possible for us to form and nurture this worldwide community of fiber, friends, learning and growth.

That said…we think it’s about time more of us meet IRL – In Real Life!

So please, save the date for the first-ever Big Knit Stars Meet-Up! 🎉🎉🎉

Friday through Saturday, July 11-13, 2025, we will facilitate in-person meetups around the world. In an upcoming newsletter, we’ll invite each of you to coordinate a meetup in your area, and give you the simple guidelines and tools you need to organize it.

We’ll also hold two online meetups in this window, in case there’s not one near you or you’re not able to attend in person.

And we have some fun surprises up our sleeve…including a stitch marker swap and some freebies!

So for now, please mark the dates on your calendar and I’ll be back in the coming weeks with more info.

Let’s keep knitting and crocheting the world together!

xoxo,

P.S. Another huge THANK-YOU to everyone who signed on for Season 10! We’re well on our way to our Big Hairy Audacious Goal of 10,000 Season 10 signups, when we’ll 10X our give-back to the 15 nonprofits our Stars Selected. As you read this, I’ll be heading back from filming in Chile with Pope Vergara. Watch for an Earlybird update coming to your Season 10 portal soon!

If you missed Earlybird signups, no worries! Click here to get notified for the next enrollment period.

While writing this newsletter, I got a text from Beth that made me squeal out loud…

Season 10 Star Samantha Brunson (@bobbleclubhouse) had just her some sneak peeks of her Season 10 project, HOTH (Hot Off The Hook). And it is 🔥🔥🔥!!!

The crochet beaded market bag will debut in Season 10 along with all the other projects. I can’t wait!

Also this past week, Season 7 Star Xandy Peters debuted the coolest new scarf!

The Codebreaker Scarf is a simple and fun geometric lace shawl with a seemingly random pattern. However, the stitches actually contain a hidden message.

The project is worked on the bias from one end to the other, creating a parallelogram shape. A series of eyelets worked along one edge creates a mesh-like fabric on half of the shawl, and the other side of the project is solid garter stitch. You can choose to encode your own message or pick the number of eyelets in each row randomly.

How cool is that? Find this project on Ravelry here.

Lastly, did you catch my unboxing of my Knit Collage package? This “Ocean Calm” colorway of their new Mixtape yarn is so beyond beautiful! Unlike anything I have ever seen 🤩 To jump in on the makealong (and choose from 9 amazing designs) click here.

Bloody Mary Deviled Eggs

Do you still have a fridge-full of leftover eggs from last weekend? I ran across this supercute way to use them up! These would be so fun for a brunch. Keep them simple or go wild with toppings like olives, cornichons, celery, bacon, or even (like I saw in one version of the recipe) tiny hash brown cakes. Tip: I’m a huge fan of my hard boiled egg cooker. It’s one kitchen gadget I use almost every week. The eggs come out perfect every time! You can find them at kitchen stores or online.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp cocktail sauce
  • ¼ tsp prepared horseradish
  • ¼ tsp hot sauce
  • Few dashes of worcestershire sauce
  • 1-2 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • Smoked bacon strips (sliced down the center lengthwise and cut into 1” strips – smoke at 300°F until crispy)
  • Celery sticks (cut into skinny matchsticks) and leafy tops
  • Small pimento stuffed green olives
  • Sliced baby dill pickles

Instructions:

  1. Set pellet smoker to 225°F
  2. Place eggs upright in muffin tin (this keeps yolks centered during the cook) and smoke on pellet grill for 2 hours. Allow eggs to cool in fridge or in ice bath before peeling.
  3. Once cooled, Peel the eggs. Then using a sharp knife slice each egg in half, lengthwise.
  4. Gently remove the yolks and place in food processor. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter.
  5. In food processor add the cooked egg yolks, mayonnaise, cocktail sauce, horseradish, hot sauce and worcestershire sauce. Blend on high until creamy.
  6. On a shallow dish or plate add Old Bay seasoning and dip each cooked egg white half in seasoning then fill each half with prepared filling. (Tip: Use a decorative piping tip OR a Ziploc bag with the corner trimmed off and pipe filling into each egg for uniform looking eggs.)
  7. Garnish each egg with a celery matchstick, smoked bacon slice, and an olive or pickle slice.
  8. Enjoy!
