[SCOOP] You are the Star 🌟
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
Some big things are happening in the Loops and Knit Stars worlds. Fifteen years ago, I founded Loops as a local yarn store in Tulsa. Then, 7 years ago, we found a way to turn the Loops experience into a membership called LoopsClub. A year after that came my biggest passion project to date – the first global online knitting masterclass event, Knit Stars.
Each step in this journey with you has brought us closer to fulfilling our mission to Knit the World Together. 🌎💙
And now, we’ve decided to bring all of our communities – the store, club and masterclass events – together, in one big, beautiful, creative universe – called KNIT STARS.
And everything we do at Knit Stars is for you.
We want to inspire you with beautiful project ideas, artisan yarns, documentaries and online workshops with the world’s greatest teachers.
And most of all, we want you to be the most joyful, creative person you can be.
So we’ve created a free 7-Day Knit Stars Challenge with videos and ideas to empower you to pick up those needles and create things you never thought were possible. The Challenge launched yesterday – jump in now to catch Days 1 and 2. A new video drops each day, and you can watch them on your own time.
Be the Star of your own knitting journey. Join the free Challenge here.
There’s something so timeless and soothing about a big, chunky yarn and simple garter stripes. Maybe it’s exactly what your needles could use right now…
For her new scarf, Ev chose Amano “Yana,” a 100% hand-sorted 21.5 micron mountain wool, in two high-contrast neutrals.
The pattern is as simple as it gets: Cast on 20 stitches on size US #13 needles. Knit two rows in your first color, then switch to your next color and knit two more rows, until it’s the length you want. (We used colors 1301 and 1302).
That’s it! No need to cut your ends or weave them in!!!
And for extra styling fun, add a Jul Oval Ring Shawl Cuff or Leather Lock Toggle.

Here’s a quick Spring lunch or simple Sunday dinner from Midwest Living: Lemon Avocado Chicken Salad!
Avocado adds a creamy richness to this bright, citrus chicken salad – and the lemon keeps the avocado from browning. Toss the ingredients gently so the avocado doesn’t blend in completely.
Serve on your favorite piece of toast or on top of a bed of spring greens with a splash of vinaigrette.
Ingredients:
2 cups chopped deli-roasted chicken
½ cup chopped celery
½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup thinly sliced green onion tops
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
¼ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons lemon juice (reserve zest)
2 teaspoons lemon zest
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ cup chopped avocado
Directions:
In a small bowl, stir together chicken, celery, mayonnaise, green onion, parsley, lemon juice and black pepper. Add Parmesan cheese, lemon zest and garlic. Toss gently to combine. Add avocado before serving. Gently toss to combine.
