🧶My most dangerous game
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
Last year, we introduced something new called 19 Questions.
It was inspired by Vogue’s 73 Questions, a popular video series created by filmmaker Joe Sabia, where celebrities are featured in their homes or similar environments, and asked 73 rapid-fire questions.
I loved the 73 Questions series, except for one thing…it was pretty clear to me that the celebrities knew the questions ahead of time, and pretended to answer off-the-cuff.
I thought it would be fun to do this with our Knit Stars, but NOT show them the questions ahead of time. And since we’d be adding this feature onto an already-tight masterclass filming schedule, we decided to cut it down to 19 Questions.
Why 19, you ask? Well, we started this in Season 9, and 9 questions seemed too short, so I settled on 19.
“19 Questions with Knit Stars” has become really popular with both our Stars and our fans. And adding to the fun is a bit of a danger element…in fact, it’s probably become the most dangerous part of my job, LOL!
Picture this: I’m holding onto a tiny “Shelley-cam” gizmo, walking backwards across a busy downtown intersection, while Brad (our cinematographer) holds onto my belt loops and guides me, and I ask questions of the Star. 🫣
Yes, it’s a little crazy…and so much fun!
Since we’re just about to open the final enrollment period for Knit Stars Season 10, we’ve just released the “19 Questions” short videos with all fifteen of our Season 10 Stars. Click here to watch them all on our YouTube channel – all for free.
While these little 19 Questions videos are much more amateurish than our cinematic masterclasses (since they’re filmed by moi!), they’re also a great, real-life way to get to know the Stars of our upcoming premiere Season. So settle in with your latest project and enjoy them! Plus I’d love if you drop some kind comments, like and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
xoxo
P.S. This just in…the tech wizards of our tiny team have figured out how to make all our Season 10 masterclasses available on a private YouTube channel, as well as in the Knit Stars portal. Which means, if you enroll in Season 10, you’ll be able to watch them on YouTube, which means they’ll be viewable in more than 80 languages! 🎉🎉🎉 Knitting and crocheting the world together, babeeee!
From the “crying crêpe” in Paris to lobster rolls in Maine…I’ve eaten my way across 15 cities on 3 continents while filming for Season 10!

I was telling Adrianne, one of our tiny-team members, that I thought my first “Knit Stars Unplugged” video that debuted last month might be too long, and she said “I thought it was perfect! I like longer videos that I can crochet to…in fact, I finished my new shawl while I was watching it!”
New shawl? What new shawl, Adrianne???
“Alpine Shawl” is by Cristina Mershon, who coincidentally used to design lots of patterns for LoopsClub back in the day. Adrianne made her version using a cotton gradient fingering weight yarn, held double. She choose to leave off the tassels and added an extra row of the pineapple motif to make it extra comfy.
Adrianne enjoyed making the shawl so much she is already working on a second version, this time in a super soft dark blue merino, that will be a gift for her mother-in-law. The pattern is free on Ravelry here.
Rosie Sweater by LE KNIT by Lena Holme Samsøe
Sometimes something on Ravelry just jumps out and wows me, and this was one of those moments.
I’ve been following this Danish designer for awhile, and all of her things are really lovely. I especially love the clever construction of this “Rosie Sweater” – a combination of drop shoulder and raglan, that enables all the colorwork to be worked in the round from the right side. Isn’t it gorgeous?
Loopidilup Ice Cube Spritz
Just in case you’re wondering what I drank with all of those meals on the road, filming for Season 10…
Mostly it was coffee and water (Brad likes to say Knit Stars runs on good coffee! 😅), local wine, or my favorite beverage ever since filming with Emma Fassio in Torino last year…an Aperol Spritz.
Lately I’ve been making this refreshing drink with an all-natural prosecco and Loopidilup (Aperol alternative) from Syltbar.com, because they have lower sugar content and are sulfite-free. I like it so much, I order it by the case and save $$. If you’re curious about Syltbar, you can check it out via my affiliate link, here.
Ingredients:
- SYLTBAR Loopidilup
- Water
- Mr SYLTBAR Premium Brut Prosecco
- 2-Cup angled measuring cup
- Ice cube tray
- White wine glass
- Orange slice
Instructions:
- In a measuring cup, mix equal parts Loopidilup and water. Stir well to combine.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and place in the freezer. Let freeze for several hours or overnight until completely solid.
- Time to assemble! Add 4 or 5 aperitif ice cubes to a white wine glass. Top with chilled Mr.
- Garnish with an orange slice.
- As the cubes melt, your spritz evolves—more color, more flavor, more fun with every sip!
