đ§¶A site for sore eyes?
BY SHELLEY BRANDER
Are you like me, really feeling the âdoomâ in âdoomscrollingâ these days?
Do you sometimes crave a few simple moments of Yarnie eye candy, uninterrupted by pushy ads for âmiracleâ face creams or people shouting through the tiny screen at you?
Of course you doâŠthatâs why youâre here, right? đ
So let me cordially invite you to visit a “site” for your sore eyesâŠthe magical world that is Dawn Barkerâs website, BarkerWool.com.
I hadnât been to Dawnâs site for several years, since she was part of Knit Stars Season 8: Breaking the Ice.
But oh my goodnessâŠthe wonder that awaits. My favorite page is the âHouse Collection,â where Dawnâs current colorways reside, many of which are specially dyed (all by Dawn) to showcase the Assigned Pooling technique.
(In case youâre not familiar with this technique, itâs a special dyeing and design process that results in artistic pieces that remarkably mimic the look of embroidery on knitted fabric.)

âFloatâ 5th Anniversary Edition Kit
When you hover over some of Dawn’s colorways, a project photo emerges using the yarn, and instantly you can see how these specially-dyed skeins translate the Assigned Pooling designsâŠ
Which, again, Dawn makes all by herself. đȘ
So browsing her site feels like a beautiful Easter egg hunt.
