đŸ§¶A site for sore eyes?

BY SHELLEY BRANDER

Are you like me, really feeling the “doom” in “doomscrolling” these days?
Do you sometimes crave a few simple moments of Yarnie eye candy, uninterrupted by pushy ads for “miracle” face creams or people shouting through the tiny screen at you?
Of course you do
that’s why you’re here, right? 😊
So let me cordially invite you to visit a “site” for your sore eyes
the magical world that is Dawn Barker’s website, BarkerWool.com.
I hadn’t been to Dawn’s site for several years, since she was part of Knit Stars Season 8: Breaking the Ice.

But oh my goodness
the wonder that awaits. My favorite page is the “House Collection,” where Dawn’s current colorways reside, many of which are specially dyed (all by Dawn) to showcase the Assigned Pooling technique.

(In case you’re not familiar with this technique, it’s a special dyeing and design process that results in artistic pieces that remarkably mimic the look of embroidery on knitted fabric.)

When you hover over some of Dawn’s colorways, a project photo emerges using the yarn, and instantly you can see how these specially-dyed skeins translate the Assigned Pooling designs

Which, again, Dawn makes all by herself. đŸ’Ș
So browsing her site feels like a beautiful Easter egg hunt.
